CJS Online – website

A well respected online resource for the public on the Criminal Justice process. Providing help and support nationwide and providing resources for local criminal justice boards working around the country.

CJS Online was a pioneering website in the field of online transformational agenda, delivering excellence in it’s field for information retrieval, user satisfaction, ease of use and design.

Respected as an information gateway for the public, admired around the world for the design and information architectural model we defined, as referenced by the Canadian and Russian government representatives communications in respect of our design and development practices.

Being a Juror

Being a Juror – Website

Jury service is one of the most important civic duties that anyone can be asked to perform, with around 400,000 summoned each year.

We worked in conjunction with another agency who were delivering the FLEX version of the site. We designed and developed the accessible version of the site working off the same database streams to deliver an equally immersive experience for non flash based users and devices.

Being a Juror was an interactive application providing all the data necessary to inform the public on their role during Jury service.

CJS Frontline Practitioners portal

CJS Frontline – Website

Frontline Matters was developed to provide information and guidance for people working on the Frontline of the criminal justice system. Produced to provide a single source of guidance, best practice, and news affecting criminal justice practitioners, the site was well received and used nationally as intended and also provided additional resources for local criminal justice boards (lcjbs).

Deliverables

Design and develop a site for frontline practitioners to find information, guidance, best practice and news from within the criminal justice system. A frontline portal of centralised information was developed as a hub for practitioners to interface with and find what they required to do their jobs better and more efficiently.

Justice Awards

Justice Awards – Website

The Justice Awards recognise the outstanding achievement of staff and volunteers across the Criminal Justice System in England and Wales.

Taking part in the Justice Awards has changed lives, and the scheme has shed light on many unsung heroes who often work in the most challenging circumstances.

The site was designed to highlight the awards process, provide an interface to showcase award nominees and winners. Following the initial design work produced externally we added additional design aspects and interaction models, integrating video and general site maintenance.

CJS Offences Brought to Justice Area view map

Criminal Justice System, Offences Brought to Justice – Website

The website sets out the number of offences the justice system has brought to justice in local areas and nationally over a 12 month period, as compared to the previous 12 months.

The brief was to simplify to presentation of 54 area datasets and the national figures, as well as to provide a simple interface for area selection and presentation.

Deliverables

To design and develop an interactive application to deliver the Offences Brought To Justice (OBTJ) data. To streamline the interaction model so that it was not an overwhelming stream of figures, and users could be more specific in their selection of data requirements as well as in the overall comparison to national data figures.

Secure eMail – Microsite

Secure eMail was developed to give Criminal Justice Organisations and practitioners the confidence to send sensitive information via email.

Secure eMail is provided by the Office for Criminal Justice Reform. Although the service is run by the Government, the Government does not have a right to view the content of any of the emails being transmitted across the service.

This site was developed to highlight the benefits of Secure eMail as a technology for CJS professionals and to enable organisations to sign up to the service and provide help and support through interactive eLearning.

We were brought in by CJIT to oversea the design and development of the Microsite and eLearning applications. We consulted on usability and accessibility, ensuring quality assurance and control over the development and implementation for both the site and the web based application itself. Secure eMail application

Secure eMail – Webmail application

Secure eMail was developed to give Criminal Justice Organisations and practitioners the confidence to send sensitive information via email.

You Be The Judge

You Be The Judge – Website

You hear the case, you decide the sentence. Then see how your sentence compares with the actual sentence passed.

You be the Judge is an interactive experience we developed for the Office for Criminal Justice Reform. You choose how you feel the current sentencing structure in the UK is. Then you watch or read the transcript to the court proceedings and periodically answer questions based on your knowledge of the case as it unfolds.

See how your perceptions change over the course of the trial and then pass sentence. Following your sentencing decision you find out the actual sentence given by a judge and see how your sentence compares to other peoples sentencing decisions.

The Office for Criminal Justice Reform (OCJR) is the government body that supports criminal justice agencies in working together to provide an improved service to the public. It reports to ministers in the Ministry of Justice, the Home Office and the Office of the Attorney General.

We designed and developed the Intranet site templates for OCJR’s legacy content management system. We further developed bespoke content managed applications for  a dynamic calendar of events, events management and subscriptions, including attendee tracking and reporting and online interactive polls.

The Office for Criminal Justice Reform (OCJR) is the government body that supports criminal justice agencies in working together to provide an improved service to the public. It reports to ministers in the Ministry of Justice, the Home Office and the Office of the Attorney General.

We were tasked to design a series of HTML email templates for various stakeholder and internal engagement communications. We designed and developed the templates, manuals for content authors, covering branding requirements, style guides and IT system integration.

Office for Criminal Justice Reform digital asset management system

Office for Criminal Justice Reform – Digital Asset Management

The Office for Criminal Justice Reform (OCJR) is the government body that supports criminal justice agencies in working together to provide an improved service to the public. It reports to ministers in the Ministry of Justice, the Home Office and the Office of the Attorney General.

We developed a digital asset management system (DAM) using the open source ResourceSpace application. Expanding on the base architecture by developing bespoke modules and applications for document conversions and presentation. Data stripping and indexing for enhanced search facilitation and control. The system was developed to maintain brand assets, documents, photography and video resources.

Deliverables

Design and develop a digital asset management system for maintenance of brand assets, documents, marketing literature, photography and video. Auto asset conversion created multiple versions of photographic resources in various file formats. The site provided preview states for all assets, sharing resources - user interaction and commenting, tracking data and extended search facilities and cataloguing.

Inside Justice Week ’09 – Website

Inside Justice Week was created to make the Criminal Justice System (CJS) open and accessible to the public while educating and informing them and to raise awareness and increase positive perception of “Inside Justice” as a concept in local communities throughout England and Wales.

The website was built to engage the public so that they will actively promote and attend “Inside Justice Week” (IJW) and the concept of “Inside Justice”. With a purpose to open up the justice system and create a more informed and positive perception of the work of the CJS through the media. The national and local events were developed to initiate discussion and activities in communities to create greater involvement with the CJS and demonstrate a year on year increase in public confidence in the CJS.

Design a site to inform and engage the public. Develop interactivity through quizes, video - presentations by key figures (inc. Rt Hon Baroness Scotland) filmed on location at the House of Commons and Ministry of Justice. We also created and co-ordinated the IJW social media campaign inc. Facebook 'Page', Twitter feed and YouTube channel. Bespoke admin for statistical analysis of interactive quizes, live messaging to users and events registration.

National Offender Management Service – Website

NOMS is an executive agency of the Ministry of Justice, bringing together the headquarters of the Probation Service and HM Prison Service to enable more effective delivery of services. The two bodies remain distinct but have a strong unity of purpose – to protect the public and reduce reoffending. Prison and probation services ensure the sentences of the courts are properly carried out and work with offenders to tackle the causes of their offending behaviour.

BBC Newsround Votemon

BBC Newsround ‘Votemon’ – Website application

Newsround is a BBC children’s news programme which was one of the world’s first television news magazines aimed specifically at children aged 6 to 12 years old.

Deliverables

The BBC provided the artwork and illustrations. We were commissioned to tie it all together developing the assets into an interactive Flash application to be embedded into the Newsround website. We scripted all the Flash animations and interactivity which was matrix based to allow the users (6 to 12 year olds) to select either a policy or a party and cross reference views in either direction.

Peter Snow online swingometer

BBC Swingometer – Website application

Peter Snow’s online swingometer is a rough guide to what happens when the vote shifts from one party to another at a general election.

To find out about a swing percentage, the user clicks and drag the slider along the numbered scale underneath the wheel, move the slider to the right for a swing to the Conservatives, or left for a swing to Labour.

As the slider moves, the pendulum on the wheel will swing at the same time, with the seats changing colour to the party gaining them.

Sophie Sheinwald is a talented photographer based in Brighton who came to us to develop her brand. Working within a digital landscape (having migrated from film many years ago now) she shoots digitally and opts to provide end to end digital services to her clients.

We identified with her concepts and style and so built the brand around that vision. Delivering the brand assets required, we further designed her literature, business cards, invoicing and went on to design and develop her website and content management system.

Identity development including logo, literature, stationary and marketing materials. Building the brand for Sophie Sheinwald Photography around her contemporary viewpoint was a given. As a focus for the identity we incorporated the red, green and blue representing the digital landscape, as a focus for the end to end digital process she delivers. The logo was completed by using the graphic element with a contemporary typeface to represent her fresh approach to photography.

A very talented photographer based in Brighton. Sophie now ready for phase two, having previously develop her brand we were further commissioned to design and develop a website Sophie Sheinwald Photography; with the specific requirement that the site would showcase her work and be completely manageable by herself going forward.

We jumped straight in by creating a fully immersive website with integrated blogging platform, bespoke galleries for both her public presentation and a specific gallery design for client previews, all wrapped up in a usable and intuitive content management system.

Sophie Sheinwald Photography – Flyer Design

Sophie Sheinwald Photography commissioned us to create a flyer design for her local promotional efforts. A simple brief, design a flyer I can promote my wedding and portrait photography in local venues, cafes and retailers as well as have delivered door to door.

We designed the flyer to feature core photography, keeping it simple and direct in it’s message. Using just two images to add impact we delivered a dual sided full colour A6 flyer design, printed on 350gsm silk stock card. It was important that it had weight and a quality texture in-line with the  professionalism and quality of her work, the silk stock card was proffered to ensure there was little reflection against light but maintained the quality and reproduction of the images.

We were commissioned to develop the Elite Tiles and Interiors brand and strategy. Our first port of call was to revise the trading name as they were known simply as “Elite Tiles”; we expanded their name to include what the company had expanded into which included interiors, kitchens, bathrooms and furnishings.
