Impendium User Experience consultation

Impendium – User Experience Design

Impendium commissioned us to enhance the user experience (UX) of their software. We started with an initial landscape review, performed client and stakeholder interviews and provided a heuristic review of the application. We delivered an initial quick wins and recommendations document enhancing the speed and performance of the application. Additionally providing some initial UX recommendations for consistency in visual design and interaction modelling.

From our user interviews and industry research we developed our user personas. We designed persona information sheets and created educational resources to support organisation wide acceptance, adoption and use.

We provided extra consultancy for business intelligence, further defining user journeys, interaction models and wireframes for a regulatory pilot simulation.

Chance UK are a national UK children’s charity, an early intervention programme that changes the challenging behaviour of primary school-aged children.

Working with Blackwood we were commissioned to develop their desktop designs for the charities new website. Taking their flat designs to the interactive medium of the web, we provided interactive consultancy, full stack development resource for the user interface and backend content management, user management, database structures and hosting. Waymark – Brochure Design

Waymark Australia commissioned us to create a brochure design to promote their offering and services. We decided on a landscape 6pp A4 design to enhance the aesthetic of their brand and corporate promise.

We could go on about the reasoning for the angular designs, the hinted hues referencing their expanded colour palette, but really it speaks for itself. Anyway, it looks awesome and they were as happy with the outcome as we were.

Waymark email signature

Waymark – email signature

Supporting corporate identity continuity is part of our core brand services. Where applicable and supported by the client we provide the additional service of cross device management implementation of email signatures.

Waymark commissioned us to design their corporate signature, with all the barriers this provides to ensure visual continuity across systems, devices, software etc. Additionally we provided process, direction and implementation documentation for their email signature use on their desktop email client, tablets and smartphones.

Continuity across devices – regardless of where they’re emailing from it always looks beautiful.

EBRD Annual Report – Website

In partnership with Blackwood we were commissioned to provide digital strategy, direction and technological excellence. We developed the sites Information Architecture and process flows, leading the client through a process of discovery for the possibilities available to express their data and information online. Wireframing the interface and interactions ready for Blackwood’s designs, we took these static design files and crafted a performant, responsive user experience – breaking with convention for this market vertical and making a unique and valued product.

The EBRD were delighted with the results officially unveiled on May 14 at the Bank’s Annual Meeting and Business Forum hosted in Warsaw, Poland. In partnership with Blackwood we were commissioned again to provide digital strategy, direction and technological excellence for the EBRD’s Donor Report 2013. We developed the sites Information Architecture and process flows, leading the client through a process of discovery for the possibilities available to express their data and information online. The Donor Report provides an update on the role of donor support in helping to prepare the way for Bank projects, foster reform and improve the investment climate. From the initial development and clear statistics we knew our architecture was solid. Initiating our core processes; we analysed user journeys, success criteria and requirements. We developed clear and defined wireframes and designs.

Carritech commissioned us for the rebrand and redevelopment of their visual identity.

We created a strong, fresh and trustworthy brand using a bold clear wordmark. We developed the brand icon referencing their global client base and business operations. Together these elements support and highlight Carritech’s professional, ecological and ethical values and credentials.

We produced the Carritech brand identity system and supporting guidelines. Additionally supplying business templates and collateral for internal and professional printing.

Deliverables

Development of the identity, including the logo, literature, corporate guidelines and stationary. We initiated a thorough landscape analysis and global colour evaluation. Design concepts were presented and refined. The finalised artwork was then used as the basis for the identity, developing the full corporate guidelines, typographic styles and corporate colour palette and brand assets.

Carritech – Web

Carritech is a global technology partner specialising in the provision of telecommunications products and services to both fixed and mobile network operators.

We were contracted to enhance the user experience, improve the functionality of the core user functions, add some additional design aesthetic and improve their overall SEO position as well as develop a bespoke “Client Portal”.

We migrated the entire existing site content into the content management system, designed and developed bespoke management screens specifically to manage products, search, the user interface and Client Portal.

A bespoke app developed to provide visual content pages for database objects of their products catalogue

Carritech – Application

Carritech is a global technology partner specialising in the provision of telecommunications products and services to both fixed and mobile network operators.

Following our initial development project Carritech got back in touch, this time with a request to provide visibility for the 18,000 (and increasing) products they have in their catalogue. We were contracted to develop a bespoke application to integrate with their products database and create a unique implementation to structure, present and manage the production (dynamically) of these pages from the database objects for each item. We additionally enhanced the development by incorporating and indexation and submittance solution which catapulted the results across the web and up the rankings.

It’s simple and direct, representing the harmony of knowledge and activity. With subtle design touches and visual enhancements like spot UV on printed assets. Additionally we provided print management and proofing services, from concept to completion.

Dean is just getting started with his personal training business. He’s been training people for years but is finally taking the leap to deliver his 360 Fitness regime under his own steam.

With a limited budget it was decided we would use an industry template as the foundation for the site. This saved on core design and development costs. We cleaned it up, gave it a bit of spit and polish, added some additional design aesthetics and iconography; as well as a professional photo shoot with Sophie Sheinwald Photography.

We setup 360 Fitness with the GoCardless system to accept direct debit payments from clients. The CMS provides an interface for 360 Fitness to construct the payments page and options for services and paylinks.

Specialising in the eShish and Luli electronic shisha range of nicotine free electronic cigarettes and eshish products. eShish was one of the first portable electronic shisha smoking ranges. Fully disposable and ZERO NICOTINE, this is unlike any other product on the market. With the electronic shisha pens from eShish and Luli (the feminine side of eShish) as well as the ultimate e-cigarette ranges from REGCIG and FC Line, Ultimate Shisha offers an end to end e-commerce service.

Cocoon Property

We were contracted to enhance and further develop the Cocoon Property website. Specifically to focus on image management, galleries, slide shows, the navigational structure; and the overall usability of the administration facilities of the site. We were also asked to design and develop blogging facilities. Another major priority was to increase the overall speed and performance rankings of the site which we were able to improve by over 22%!

Our enhancements have provided Cocoon Property with a faster and more streamlined management workflow, increased customer usability, find-ability and presentational site structure and interface.

Cocoon Property - Facebook Page designs

Cocoon Property – Facebook

Cocoon Property commissioned us to further enhance their social media strategy. Avid tweeters, they were looking to create a more cohesive social media presence, expand their networks and increase brand awareness.

We setup and created their Facebook page, designing their cover image, integrating third party services to deliver their tweets through to their Facebook page, stream in their blog posts and provide additional avenues for clients and users to contact them though a bespoke contact form directly from within Facebook itself. Branding all these services and associated buttons to increase their brand presence and user experience.

We created a cross pollinating social presence from their website, to Facebook and twitter.

Cocoon Property – Redesign

Cocoon wanted to reposition themselves and to focus on their core services.

We redesigned their homepage keeping to the original ethos and design of their brand. We focused on creating clear channels to guide users to key services and focus points Cocoon requested.

During this phase we also redesigned their testimonials and FAQ style resources to increase the aesthetic and usability of these text heavy pages too.

We were tasked to design a series of HTML email templates for various stakeholder and internal engagement communications. We designed and developed the templates, manuals for content authors, covering branding requirements, style guides and IT system integration.

Office for Criminal Justice Reform – Digital Asset Management

The Office for Criminal Justice Reform (OCJR) is the government body that supports criminal justice agencies in working together to provide an improved service to the public. It reports to ministers in the Ministry of Justice, the Home Office and the Office of the Attorney General.

We developed a digital asset management system (DAM) using the open source ResourceSpace application. Expanding on the base architecture by developing bespoke modules and applications for document conversions and presentation. Data stripping and indexing for enhanced search facilitation and control. The system was developed to maintain brand assets, documents, photography and video resources.

Deliverables

Design and develop a digital asset management system for maintenance of brand assets, documents, marketing literature, photography and video. Auto asset conversion created multiple versions of photographic resources in various file formats. The site provided preview states for all assets, sharing resources - user interaction and commenting, tracking data and extended search facilities and cataloguing.

The national and local events were developed to initiate discussion and activities in communities to create greater involvement with the CJS and demonstrate a year on year increase in public confidence in the CJS.

Secure eMail was developed to give Criminal Justice Organisations and practitioners the confidence to send sensitive information via email.

Secure eMail is provided by the Office for Criminal Justice Reform. Although the service is run by the Government, the Government does not have a right to view the content of any of the emails being transmitted across the service.

This site was developed to highlight the benefits of Secure eMail as a technology for CJS professionals and to enable organisations to sign up to the service and provide help and support through interactive eLearning.

Being a Juror

Being a Juror

Jury service is one of the most important civic duties that anyone can be asked to perform, with around 400,000 summoned each year.

We worked in conjunction with another agency who were delivering the FLEX version of the site. We designed and developed the accessible version of the site working off the same database streams to deliver an equally immersive experience for non flash based users and devices.

Being a Juror was an interactive application providing all the data necessary to inform the public on their role during Jury service.

Justice Awards

The Justice Awards recognise the outstanding achievement of staff and volunteers across the Criminal Justice System in England and Wales.

Taking part in the Justice Awards has changed lives, and the scheme has shed light on many unsung heroes who often work in the most challenging circumstances.

CJS Offences Brought to Justice Area view map

Criminal Justice System: Offences Brought to Justice

The website sets out the number of offences brought to justice in local areas and nationally over a 12 month period, as compared to the previous 12 months by the Criminal Justice System (CJS).

The brief was to simplify to presentation of 54 area datasets and the national figures for the Offences Brought to Justice data, as well as to provide a simple interface for area selection and presentation. We developed a sigle page application with an enhanced user interaction model for data selection and comparison. The project was extremely well received and distributed across the CJS, being linked to from numerous Intranets and applications for CJS professionals.

You be the Judge is an interactive experience we developed for the Ministry of Justice. You choose how you feel the current sentencing structure in the UK is. Then you watch or read the transcript to the court proceedings and periodically answer questions based on your knowledge of the case as it unfolds.

See how your perceptions change over the course of the trial and then pass sentence. Following your sentencing decision you find out the actual sentence given by a judge and see how your sentence compares to other peoples sentencing decisions.

National Offender Management Service Website

National Offender Management Service

NOMS is an executive agency of the Ministry of Justice, bringing together the headquarters of the Probation Service and HM Prison Service to enable more effective delivery of services. The two bodies remain distinct but have a strong unity of purpose – to protect the public and reduce reoffending. Prison and probation services ensure the sentences of the courts are properly carried out and work with offenders to tackle the causes of their offending behaviour.

Sophie Sheinwald Photography. Sophie is a talented photographer based in Brighton who came to us to develop her brand. Working within a digital landscape (having migrated from film many years ago now) she shoots digitally and opts to provide end to end digital services to her clients.

We identified with her concepts and style and so built the brand around that vision. Delivering the brand assets required, we further designed her literature, business cards, invoicing and went on to design and develop her website and content management system.

Identity development including logo, literature, stationary and marketing materials. Building the brand for Sophie Sheinwald Photography around her contemporary viewpoint was a given. As a focus for the identity we incorporated the red, green and blue representing the digital landscape, as a focus for the end to end digital process she delivers. The logo was completed by using the graphic element with a contemporary typeface to represent her fresh approach to photography.

Sophie Sheinwald Photography commissioned us to create a flyer design for her local promotional efforts. A simple brief, design a flyer I can promote my wedding and portrait photography in local venues, cafes and retailers as well as have delivered door to door.

We designed the flyer to feature core photography, keeping it simple and direct in it’s message. Using just two images to add impact we delivered a dual sided full colour A6 flyer design, printed on 350gsm silk stock card. It was important that it had weight and a quality texture in-line with the  professionalism and quality of her work, the silk stock card was proffered to ensure there was little reflection against light but maintained the quality and reproduction of the images.

Moviolla is a new film magazine, developed specifically to showcase originality in short and medium length film.

We were brought in to develop their online store-font, to deliver an eCommerce site to sell, promote and showcase the magazine. We enhanced the offering by including additional social media interaction points, creating an online showcase platform to further interact with viewers and directors.

We designed and developed the site to ensure usability, accessibility as well as streamlining the management flows for the magazine, showcases, clients and blog via an intuitive and user enhanced Content Management System. Spring Break Film Course

Brighton Film School Central commissioned us to design the microsite for their inaugural film course. Based in Brighton this film course will focus on delivering expert tuition by industry professionals in making both drama and documentary based films.

The Spring Break Film Course is a unique six day intensive course covering all aspects film production, creation and management ending with a film festival of the products of the course, the students actual finished films.

We produced the site using device agnostic responsive techniques to provide an enhanced user experience whether on a desktop, laptop, tablet device or mobile.

Spring Break Film Course - Flyer Design

Spring Break Film Course – Flyer

Brighton Film School Central commissioned us to create a flyer design for their local promotional efforts. The basic brief, design a flyer to promote the inaugural six day film course in Brighton, UK.

We designed the flyer to feature the core illustration style we had developed for the Spring Break microsite. We kept the message direct and to the point “Make a movie in a week” which is what the six day course revolves around. We also created a bespoke stylised Quick Response (QR) code for users to be directly taken to the new microsite for more details and to apply.

Printed on mid weight 350gsm silk board card stock the results are simply beautiful, well we think so.

BBC Newsround Votemon

BBC Newsround ‘Votemon’ – application

Newsround is a BBC children’s news programme which was one of the world’s first television news magazines aimed specifically at children aged 6 to 12 years old.

Deliverables

The BBC provided the artwork and illustrations. We were commissioned to tie it all together developing the assets into an interactive Flash application to be embedded into the Newsround website. We scripted all the Flash animations and interactivity which was matrix based to allow the users (6 to 12 year olds) to select either a policy or a party and cross reference views in either direction.

Peter Snow online swingometer

BBC Swingometer – application

Peter Snow’s online swingometer is a rough guide to what happens when the vote shifts from one party to another at a general election.

To find out about a swing percentage, the user clicks and drag the slider along the numbered scale underneath the wheel, move the slider to the right for a swing to the Conservatives, or left for a swing to Labour.

As the slider moves, the pendulum on the wheel will swing at the same time, with the seats changing colour to the party gaining them.

The Leyland Bros or the Leyland Brothers (not really brothers) came to set London on fire with their imaginative themed parties and club nights. They certainly left a mark on the London party scene, hosting various parties across London on land and sea. Themed boat parties on the Thames were a staple of their repertoire for delivering pumping house music with a soul.

Home Farm Life

A unique commission for us, we were approached to design a website in a day! A commission by the charity, to help highlight there cause and provide a resource for their lottery funding proposal and sponsorship prospects.

It was a late commission on a Friday and had to be available to view Monday morning. Not ones to rush into anything; we pride ourselves on “Thinking” before we create anything – a standard part of our design and development strategy. Yet, we were compelled to get involved for this community focused project and lend our talents to the future of sustainable living culture here in Brighton (the Green City).
